Thetford Wall Lamp

Tapered Cone Shade · Swing-Arm Brass Body · Three Finishes · Two Shade Materials

A traditional swing-arm wall sconce with a tapered cone shade — a circular brass backplate, a curved brass arm extending forward, and a pleated-collar socket holding a parasol-shaped shade beneath. The vocabulary draws from early-20th-century American workshop and library lighting.

Choose the shade material to suit your needs: ceramic for a soft light-transmissive glow, or aluminum for a more durable opaque shade that ships safely without breakage risk. Available in three metal finishes for the arm and backplate.

Tapered Cone Shade

Parasol-shaped shade focuses light downward — bright reading-light intensity, glare-free.

Two Shade Materials

Ceramic for translucent glow, or aluminum for durable shipping and opaque cone form.

Three Metal Finishes

Brass, nickel, or white powder-coat — suits traditional, transitional, or modern walls.

Ceramic vs. Aluminum lampshade comparison

Ceramic shades are translucent — light passes through the material for a softer glow. Aluminum shades are opaque metal — more durable in shipping with no breakage risk.

Brass

Warm polished brass — classical, traditional, pairs with cream walls and oak.

Nickel

Brushed nickel — versatile silver-warm, suits transitional and modern interiors.

White

Powder-coated white — minimal, recedes against light walls.

Ceramic shade or aluminum shade — which should I choose? +

Pick ceramic if you want soft, translucent light — the bulb glow passes through the ceramic material for a warm, gentle wash. Pick aluminum if you want crisper directional light and don't need translucent glow — aluminum is also more durable in shipping with zero breakage risk. Both produce the same parasol silhouette, just different light qualities.

What bulb does it take? +

One E26 (North America) or E27 (EU/UK/AU) standard-base bulb up to 25W. We recommend a warm white (3000K) LED for residential ambiance. Vintage Edison-style filament bulbs also work well — the bulb is partially visible from below the cone, and a filament bulb adds workshop character. Bulb not included.

How far does it project from the wall? +

Wall projection is 32 cm (12.6") — measured from the wall surface to the front edge of the shade. This is a substantial projection suited to wider walls; for narrow hallways or tight spaces, measure your clearance before ordering.

Can I order it as a pair? +

Yes — works beautifully in pairs flanking a bed, fireplace, or large mirror. Just order two units in matching finish. For matched-batch consistency on larger orders, contact us first.

Is it dimmable? +

The fixture itself doesn't dim, but it becomes fully dimmable when paired with a dimmable LED bulb and a standard TRIAC wall dimmer (both sold separately).
